Life, the Universe and Everything

This third book in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series finds Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect stranded on prehistoric Earth, following the events of The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. They are abruptly whisked away to the middle of a cricket ground on present-day Earth, only two days before the planet is set to be destroyed by the Vogons. Escaping for a second time, Arthur, Ford, and their old friend Slartibartfast are reluctantly enlisted in a mission to prevent a galactic war. They must save the universe from the unhappy inhabitants of the planet Krikkit and their fanatical killer robots, who plan to destroy all the stars in the night sky because they are sick of looking at them.
