The Day of the Triffids
Bill Masen, a biologist, wakes up in a hospital with his eyes bandaged, having missed a spectacular meteor shower. Upon removing the bandages, he discovers he is one of the few people left who can see, as the rest of the world has been blinded. With civilization in chaos, Masen must navigate a world in collapse while facing a terrifying new threat: the triffids. These are huge, venomous, and mobile carnivorous plants, previously cultivated for their valuable oil, that now seize the opportunity to hunt down the defenseless human population.
