Sheila Watson

Sheila Martin Watson (1909–1998) was a Canadian novelist, critic and teacher best known for her modernist novel The Double Hook (1959), which is widely regarded as a landmark in contemporary Canadian literature. She taught at the University of Alberta, co-founded the literary journal White Pelican, and published a second novel, Deep Hollow Creek, in 1992. She received the Royal Society of Canada’s Lorne Pierce Medal and her papers are held at St. Michael’s College, University of Toronto.
