Isabel Edwards
Isabel Edwards is the author of "Ruffles on My Longjohns," an autobiographical account of her adventures homesteading in the Canadian wilderness with her husband Earle. Born in Britain and raised in Victoria, she moved to British Columbia in her early twenties, where she and Earle began homesteading in the Bella Coola Valley. What was intended as a winter stay turned into nearly fifty years of life in the remote wilderness. The book details her experiences coping with isolation, learning to fish, cook, can, care for animals, and run a home with limited resources, all while navigating a world dominated by men. Her writing is described as witty and whimsical, treating her past with tender humor. Edwards has also been noted as an illustrator.
