Poul William Anderson was an American fantasy and science fiction author active from the 1940s until his death in 2001. He was known for his prolific output, attention to scientific detail, and skill in creating fast-paced adventure stories. Anderson also wrote historical novels, mysteries, and non-fiction. He was a founding member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America and received numerous awards, including seven Hugo Awards and three Nebula Awards. He was named a Grand Master by the Science Fiction Writers of America and inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame.
