I Capture the Castle tells the story of seventeen-year-old Cassandra Mortmain, who lives with her eccentric family in not-so-genteel poverty in a beautiful but ramshackle English castle. Her family includes her father, a novelist suffering from a decade-long writer's block, and her stepmother, Topaz, a free-spirited artist. Determined to forge her own path, Cassandra keeps a diary to practice her writing, chronicling the comical and poignant struggles of her beloved-but exasperating family.
