A Song for the Dark Times

Retired Inspector John Rebus is called north to a remote, windswept town after his daughter, Samantha, reports her partner, Keith, missing. Fearing the worst and knowing that Samantha will likely be the prime suspect in a police investigation, Rebus drives to the secluded village with a history of a World War II prison camp and big secrets. Rebus struggles to determine if he is there as a father or a detective, and wonders if the truth is the one thing he doesn't want to find. Meanwhile, in Edinburgh, Rebus's former colleague DI Siobhan Clarke, along with DI Malcolm Fox, is part of a Murder Inquiry Team investigating the mysterious killing of a wealthy Saudi student, a case that eventually takes them into the world of wealthy international socialites.
