Wandering Fire

The Wandering Fire is the second novel in The Fionavar Tapestry trilogy. After a thousand years of imprisonment, the ancient evil known as the Unraveller, Rakoth Maugrim, has broken free and frozen Fionavar, the First of All Worlds, in the ice of eternal winter, beginning his terrible vengeance. The five students from our world must cross over once again to play their given roles in a colossal war against Maugrim's forces. Each faces their destiny: Kimberly Ford must summon the dead, including King Arthur Pendragon, to aid the Light; Dave Martyniuk takes his place in battle among the Dalrei of the Plain; and Paul Schafer, Lord of the Summer Tree, must weave his bright thread through the tapestry. Meanwhile, Jennifer is carrying the Unraveller's child, Darien, a boy who must take the Longest Road, as the allies of Fionavar seek a way to shatter the icy grip of death, including a quest to break the Cauldron of Khath Meigol, the source of the unnatural winter.
