Eleven-year-old Mark Sway and his younger brother, Ricky, are sharing a forbidden cigarette in a weedy lot on the outskirts of Memphis when they witness the bizarre suicide of a New Orleans attorney. Before dying, the lawyer reveals a deadly secret to Mark: the whereabouts of the most sought-after dead body in America—a murdered U.S. Senator. Now, Mark is caught between the legal system, represented by an ambitious U.S. Attorney, Roy Foltrigg, who is determined to make him talk, and the Mafia, whose killer will stop at nothing to keep him quiet. His only ally is Reggie Love, a lawyer specializing in child protection cases, who must navigate the complexities of attorney-client privilege and the threats from both the government and the mob to protect her young client.
