The Street Lawyer

Michael Brock is an antitrust lawyer on the fast track to a lucrative partnership at Drake & Sweeney, a powerful Washington, D.C., law firm. His privileged life and career are violently derailed when a homeless man, identifying himself only as 'Mister,' enters the firm's offices and takes Michael and eight other lawyers hostage, demanding to know about an eviction. The assailant is killed by a police sniper, but the encounter forces Michael to confront his conscience and investigate the man's claims. He discovers that his firm was involved in the illegal, mid-winter eviction of formerly homeless families from a condemned building to make way for a lucrative federal project. The eviction resulted in the death of a homeless family. Shocked by this 'dirty secret,' Michael steals a top-secret file connected to the conspiracy and quits the firm to take a low-paying job at the 14th Street Legal Clinic, becoming an advocate for the homeless. His former partners at Drake & Sweeney immediately suspect him of the file's theft and use the full force of their power to destroy him, turning the rising star attorney into a wanted man and making him the most dangerous kind of enemy: a street lawyer.
