Deadman Wonderland, Vol. 1

The story centers on Ganta Igarashi, a seemingly ordinary middle school student whose life is violently upended after a mysterious, blood-soaked entity known as the 'Red Man' massacres his entire class. The sole survivor of the slaughter, Ganta is cruelly framed for the crime and sentenced to death. He is incarcerated in the titular 'Deadman Wonderland,' a unique, privatized prison and theme park built upon the ruins of a post-apocalyptic Tokyo where inmates perform dangerous, life-threatening tasks for the public's amusement. Life inside the prison is a constant fight for survival, complicated by a specialized collar that injects lethal poison into the wearer, requiring the regular consumption of a costly antidote. As Ganta navigates this hostile environment, he encounters a strange and elusive girl named Shiro, who seems to hold secrets connected to his past and the true nature of the prison.
