The Magic Finger

The story follows an unnamed eight-year-old girl who lives next door to the Gregg family. The Greggs love to hunt for sport, a hobby that the girl finds cruel and intolerable. When she becomes sufficiently angry, she loses control of her 'Magic Finger,' a powerful force that shoots a beam of energy at the person who upset her, causing unpredictable transformations. After the Greggs laugh off her protests, she flashes her finger at them. The next morning, the Gregg family wakes up to find they have shrunk to the size of birds and grown wings, while the ducks they were hunting the previous day have grown human arms and taken over their house. To survive, the Greggs must experience life from the perspective of their prey, leading to a whimsical and poignant lesson on empathy and animal rights.
