Lucy Dinotto is a successful mystery novelist who decides to go undercover in the world of online dating to research her next book. Using the online handle 'Lush-n-Lacy,' she meets a man who goes by 'Hard-n-Handy,' otherwise known as Quinn McFarland. Unbeknownst to Lucy, Quinn is actually an undercover detective investigating a series of murders linked to the very same dating site. As the two begin a relationship built on a foundation of lies and secret identities, they must navigate their growing attraction while trying to catch a killer who is targeting women online. When their real worlds collide, Lucy and Quinn must decide if their connection is real or just another part of the game.
