Peter Stark is an adventure and exploration writer and historian. Born in Wisconsin, he studied English and anthropology at Dartmouth College and earned a master's in journalism from the University of Wisconsin. He has written for numerous publications, including Outside magazine, Smithsonian, The New Yorker, and The New York Times Magazine. His work often focuses on adventure, exploration, history, wilderness, indigenous peoples, and the human body under extreme stress. He is based in Missoula, Montana, and has lived abroad in Mozambique and Brazil.
