Derek Haas (born June 30, 1970) is an American novelist and screenwriter. He is the author of the Columbus/"Silver Bear" assassin novels (The Silver Bear, Columbus, Dark Men, A Different Lie, The Way I Die) and the standalone thriller The Right Hand. Haas co-wrote screenplays for films including 3:10 to Yuma, Wanted, and The Double, and is co-creator/executive producer of the NBC drama Chicago Fire and a developer/executive producer on related Chicago franchise series. He founded the short-fiction site PopcornFiction and lives in Los Angeles.
