A. S. Byatt
A. S. Byatt was an English critic, novelist, poet, and short-story writer, known for her erudite works. Her characters are often academics or artists commenting on the intellectual process. She was born in Sheffield, England, and educated at the University of Cambridge, Bryn Mawr College, and the University of Oxford. Byatt lectured at University College London from 1972 to 1983 before dedicating herself to full-time writing. Her books have been translated into over thirty languages.
