Charles Townshend

Charles Townshend is a British historian and Professor Emeritus of International History at Keele University. His research focuses on modern British and Irish history, the history of war, political violence, terrorism, public security, and counter-insurgency, particularly in Ireland and Palestine under British rule. He is the author of several acclaimed books on Irish history and the British involvement in the Middle East. He was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 2008.
