Sheryl McFarlane is a Canadian author of books for children and young adults. Born in the Ottawa Valley, she grew up in Arizona before returning to Canada in 1972. A former teacher and child-care worker, she has written numerous award-winning books, including 'Waiting for the Whales' and 'Jessie's Island'. She is also a freelance editor and has been involved in children's literature organizations in Victoria, British Columbia, where she resides.
