Pamela Hickman

Pamela Hickman is an award-winning Canadian author who specializes in non-fiction nature books for children. She was born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario, and holds an Honours Bachelor degree in Environmental Studies and Biology from the University of Waterloo. Hickman began her writing career as the Education Co-ordinator for the Federation of Ontario Naturalists, where she developed educational kits about nature and the environment. Since becoming a freelance writer in 1990, she has published over 35 books. She moved to Canning, Nova Scotia, in 1992 with her husband and three daughters and now has grandchildren who also inspire her work. Hickman aims to foster respect and fascination for nature in her readers through her engaging and often activity-based books.
