Hiroaki Sato
Hiroaki Sato is a Japanese poet, essayist, and a prolific, award-winning translator of classical and modern Japanese literature into English. Born in Taiwan in 1942, he moved to the United States in 1968 and has lived in New York City since. He served as president of the Haiku Society of America (1979–1981) and has been a long-time columnist for The Japan Times. He is widely regarded as one of the finest translators of contemporary Japanese poetry.
