Eva Stachniak

Eva Stachniak is a Polish-Canadian novelist born in Wrocław, Poland. She moved to Canada in 1981 to study at McGill University, where she earned a PhD in literature. She taught English and humanities at Sheridan College for many years. Her debut novel, Necessary Lies, won the Books in Canada First Novel Award, and she has since become an internationally bestselling author known for her historical fiction.
