Bernhard Schlink

Bernhard Schlink is a German novelist, academic, and former judge. He is best known internationally for his 1995 novel 'The Reader' (Der Vorleser), which became a bestseller and was adapted into an Academy Award-winning film. Before focusing on his literary career, he had a distinguished career as a professor of public law and legal philosophy at Humboldt University of Berlin and as a judge at the Constitutional Court of North Rhine-Westphalia.
