Nassim Nicholas Taleb (born 1960) is a Lebanese-American essayist, scholar, former options trader, and risk analyst best known for his work on randomness, probability, and uncertainty. He is the author of the Incerto series, which includes Fooled by Randomness, The Black Swan, Antifragile, The Bed of Procrustes, and Skin in the Game. Taleb has held academic positions (including Distinguished Professor of Risk Engineering at NYU Tandon School of Engineering), worked in derivatives trading and hedge funds, and has been an adviser to Universa Investments. His writing mixes philosophy, practical insight on risk, and critique of conventional economic and statistical approaches.
