Sir Thomas Malory
Sir Thomas Malory (c. 1415-1471) was an English knight and writer, best known for his compilation of Arthurian legends, "Le Morte d'Arthur." He wrote the work while imprisoned for various crimes, completing it around 1469-1470. Malory's identity has been debated, but the most widely accepted candidate is Sir Thomas Malory of Newbold Revel in Warwickshire. His life was marked by a contrast between his chivalric writings and his alleged criminal activities, including robbery, rape, and attempted murder. "Le Morte d'Arthur" was published posthumously by William Caxton in 1485 and is considered a foundational work of English literature.
