Leïla Slimani
Leïla Slimani (born 3 October 1981) is a French–Moroccan novelist and journalist. She rose to international prominence after winning the Prix Goncourt in 2016 for her novel Chanson douce (published in English as The Perfect Nanny). Her work often explores motherhood, female sexuality, social inequality, and identity; she has also published historical fiction in a multivolume saga inspired by her family history. Slimani has served as a representative for the promotion of the French language and culture and has been active in literary and public roles in France and internationally.
