Mindy McGinnis is an American author of young adult fiction known for gritty, issue-driven novels that span contemporary, historical, fantasy, and thriller subgenres. A ninth-generation farmer who grew up in Ohio, she worked for years as a teen/school librarian before becoming a full-time writer. Her books include Not a Drop to Drink, A Madness So Discreet (winner of the 2016 Edgar Award for Best Young Adult), The Female of the Species, Heroine, Be Not Far From Me, and Under This Red Rock. She maintains a writing blog and provides educational resources and school visits.
