Freida McFadden

Freida McFadden, born Sara Cohen on May 1, 1980, is an American author known for her psychological thriller novels. She is also a practicing physician specializing in brain disorders and injuries. McFadden initially used a pseudonym to keep her writing career separate from her medical practice, but revealed her real name in April 2026. Her novels often incorporate medical themes and draw on her professional experiences. She began self-publishing in 2013, and her 2022 novel "The Housemaid" became an international bestseller and was adapted into a film. McFadden has won the International Thriller Writers Award and the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Mystery & Thriller.
