Paul J. McAuley
Paul J. McAuley (born 23 April 1955) is a British biologist and award-winning science fiction author. Trained as a research biologist, he has worked at universities including Oxford and UCLA and was a lecturer in botany at St Andrews. McAuley writes primarily hard science fiction that frequently explores biotechnology, nanotechnology, alternative history, and space travel. His first novel, Four Hundred Billion Stars, won the Philip K. Dick Award; Fairyland won the Arthur C. Clarke Award and the John W. Campbell Memorial Award. He has lived in North London.
