Jerry Spinelli (born February 1, 1941) is an American author best known for novels for children and young adults that explore adolescence with humor and heart. His notable works include Maniac Magee (winner of the Newbery Medal), Stargirl, Wringer, Milkweed, and Crash. A Gettysburg College and Johns Hopkins University graduate, Spinelli began publishing in the 1980s and has written novels and picture books while living in Pennsylvania.
