The Sins of the Wolf

Nurse Hester Latterly is hired to accompany the elderly Mary Farraline on a train journey from Edinburgh to London, with the simple duty of ensuring the woman takes her heart medicine. However, Mrs. Farraline dies during the night. A postmortem reveals she was killed by a lethal overdose of medicine, and when her pearl brooch is found in Hester's bag, the nurse is charged with murder. Facing the gallows, Hester's only hope is private investigator William Monk, who must travel to Edinburgh to investigate the secretive and coolly unassailable Farraline family to find a calculating killer among them before Hester is convicted for a crime she did not commit.
