Deadly Stakes A Novel

Former reporter Ali Reynolds finds herself working against the police to clear the names of two people accused of a grisly murder. Lynn Martinson and her boyfriend, Chip Ralston, are arrested for the murder of Chip's gold-digging ex-wife, Gemma Ralston. Simultaneously, Ali is drawn into the case of a secretive teenager, A.J. Sanders, who was the first to find the body while in the Camp Verde desert to retrieve a mysterious box buried by his absent father. This box turns out to be filled with hundreds of thousands of dollars in poker chips. When a second body—that of A.J.'s ex-con father, James Sanders—is discovered near the first crime scene, Ali struggles to determine if the cases are connected. Despite frustrating her friends in the police department, Ali must add up the clues connecting the teenager, the two dead bodies, and the cache of money to stop a ruthless killer from claiming another victim.
