Unholy Awakening

In the nineteenth-century world of Prussia, a woman's body is found at the bottom of a well in the town of Lotingen with two small, round puncture wounds to the jugular vein, suggesting a vampire attack. As 'vampire fever' spreads and hysteria grips the countryside, suspicion quickly falls on Emma Rimmele, a beautiful and mysterious stranger who has recently arrived to bury her mother. Investigator Hanno Stiffeniis, along with Colonel Lavedrine, a criminologist in the Grand Armée, must race to find the true culprit before the superstitious mob's violence targets the innocent. The case pits rational, scientific detection against the period's fervent belief in the supernatural.
