In a village steeped in Chinese folklore, a young woman named Fei lives in a jagged mountain village where no one has been able to hear for generations due to the rocky terrain and frequent avalanches. The villagers are at the mercy of a zipline that carries food up the treacherous cliffs from Beiguo, a mysterious faraway kingdom. When the villagers begin to lose their sight and food deliveries shrink, Fei's entire existence is plunged into a crisis of darkness and starvation. One night, Fei is awoken by a searing noise, and sound becomes her weapon. She sets out on a journey from the peak of her village to the valley of Beiguo to fight the dangers threatening her people, accompanied by a handsome miner, where a startling truth and an unlikely romance will change her life forever.
