Past Tense A Jack Reacher Novel

Jack Reacher begins an epic road trip from Maine to California but takes a detour in the New England woods to visit Laconia, New Hampshire, the town where his late father was supposedly born. When he asks about his family's old home, the city clerk tells him no one named Reacher ever lived there, forcing Jack to uncover his father's hidden past. At the same time, a young Canadian couple traveling to New York City to sell a treasure has car trouble and is stranded at a strange, isolated motel nearby. The motel owners seem friendly but are far more dangerous than they appear. As Reacher digs deeper into his father's life, and the couple faces lethal danger, the two separate storylines begin to merge, revealing a shocking and deadly connection between Reacher's past and the present danger.
