Firefly Summer

The sleepy Irish town of Mountfern is transformed in the summer of 1962 when Patrick O'Neill, a wealthy Irish American, arrives with grand plans. He buys Ferncourt, a large house ruined during the Troubles and a favorite childhood playground for the local Ryan family, with the intention of building a luxury hotel for American tourists. This development promises to breathe new life and wealth into the village, but it also threatens the traditional way of life and the livelihood of local businesses, particularly the Ryan family's pub. The novel, which spans four fateful years, tells the interlocking stories of love, hate, loyalty, and betrayal as old traditions begin to crumble, secrets are revealed, and a tragic accident divides the community, irrevocably changing the lives of the townsfolk and the newcomer alike.
