The Grace Year A Novel

In the isolated Garner County, no one speaks of the 'grace year,' a forbidden practice where girls are banished for their sixteenth year to the wild to release their dangerous 'magic' so they can return purified and ready for marriage. Sixteen-year-old Tierney James dreads her impending grace year, dreaming of a better life. As she is sent into exile alongside other girls her age, she quickly discovers that the elements and the ruthless poachers who hunt the girls for their rumored magical properties are not the only dangers. The greatest threat may very well be the other banished girls themselves, as the year descends into a desperate struggle for survival and a test of their complex relationships.
