Secret Identity A Novel

Set in 1975, a time when the comic book industry is struggling, the novel centers on Carmen Valdez, an assistant at the second-rate Triumph Comics, who dreams of writing her own superhero book. Her dream is within reach when a colleague secretly enlists her help to create a new character, the company's first female hero, named 'The Lethal Lynx.' However, her colleague is found dead shortly after, and all the scripts are turned into the publisher without Carmen's name on them. Desperate to uncover the truth and claim her part of the now-runaway hit Lynx, Carmen is pulled into a hard-edged noir mystery, complicated by a tenacious cop, a visitor from her past in Miami, and the tangled web of secrets and resentments within the world of comic book creators.
