State of Terror A Novel

After a tumultuous period in American politics, a new administration is sworn in, and the President chooses a political enemy, Ellen Adams, for the vital position of Secretary of State. The appointment is a calculated move to silence one of his harshest critics, as Adams must step down as head of her multinational media conglomerate to take the job. As the new president addresses Congress, a young foreign service officer named Anahita Dahir receives a baffling, hastily coded warning. What begins as a series of apparent terrorist attacks is revealed to be an international chess game involving the volatile politics of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran; the race to develop nuclear weapons in the region; the Russian mob; and a burgeoning rogue terrorist organization. The horrifying scale of the threat becomes clear, and Secretary Adams and her team realize the intricate conspiracy was carefully planned to take advantage of four years of an American government out of touch with international affairs and diplomacy. To defeat the plot, it will take the skills of Adams, the young FSO, and a dedicated journalist.
