War Girl

Set in England, 1926, the story follows eight-year-old Mirren, who is orphaned after a tragic accident and sent to live with estranged relatives in the Yorkshire Dales. Growing up in the shadow of the Great War, she finds a place of refuge and a 'home' in the ruins of a stone cottage called World's End. Mirren grows into a strong woman, falls in love with local heartthrob Jack, and finally feels complete with a husband and child of her own—until the Second World War begins to threaten everything she holds dear. Jack returns a changed, violent man, and when tragedy strikes, Mirren must find solace and hope in the darkest of times to overcome her heartache and prevent history from repeating itself.
