Time and Time Again

The novel follows Hugh Stanton, an ex-soldier and celebrated adventurer, who in a fictional 21st century is given a singular mission to save the future. He is sent back in time to June 1st, 1914, a date that makes him 'quite literally the loneliest man on earth,' as no one he has ever known or loved has yet been born. Stanton is tasked with preventing the outbreak of the catastrophic Great War, which he knows is a 'collective suicidal madness' that will destroy European civilization and bring misery to the century to come. The fate of the world rests on his ability to stop the war that will begin with a single bullet, raising the question of whether a single action can truly save an entire century.
