Pemberley Ranch

This novel is a reimagining of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice set in the post-Civil War American West. Fervent Union supporter Beth Bennet reluctantly moves with her family from Meryton, Ohio, to the plains of Rosings, Texas. Here, she crosses paths with the handsome and haughty ex-Confederate officer, Will Darcy, who owns the extensive Pemberley Ranch. Beth despises Darcy, as he represents the army that killed her only brother, and her fierce prejudice is fueled by the villainous carpetbagger George Whitehead. However, as the Bennet family's new life is threatened by unscrupulous dealings in the unforgiving Texas territory, Beth is forced to confront her biases, realizing that the man she swore to hate may be the only one who can save her home and heart.
