A Gambling Man

Aloysius Archer, a straight-talking World War II veteran recently released from prison, is looking for a fresh start as the 1950s approach. He embarks on a long journey west to California. On the way, he stops in Reno, where a stroke of fortune nets him a classic car and a companion for the final leg, aspiring actress Liberty Callahan. The two arrive in Bay Town, California, where Archer secures an apprenticeship with private investigator and former FBI agent Willie Dash. They are immediately drawn into a blackmail case targeting a wealthy and well-connected politician running for mayor. As the case spins into something more sinister and bodies begin to fall, Archer and Dash must infiltrate a corrupt world of brothels, gambling dens, and drug operations to expose the town's rotten secrets.
