Set in the chaos of World War II, specifically October 1942, this thriller begins with a secret operation off the coast of neutral Argentina where a merchant ship is resupplying Nazi submarines and raiders. The OSS (Office of Strategic Services) is determined to sabotage this critical operation. They enlist a young U.S. Marine aviator ace, Lieutenant Colonel Cletus Frade, for a key role in the mission. Frade's assignment is to travel to Buenos Aires and gain the trust and support of a powerful Argentinian, a man known as 'el Coronel.' Frade is thrust into a private battle between his duty to the OSS and his personal honor, as 'el Coronel' is the father he never knew.
