Vulcan's Forge

The story begins deep beneath the Pacific Ocean during the Cold War, where the Soviet Union secretly detonates a nuclear bomb on the ocean floor to create a volcano that will unnaturally rise over decades, forming an island off Hawaii. This new volcanic island is the source of a unique mineral that promises clean, limitless nuclear power. Years later, as the island emerges, a rogue KGB officer attempts to sell the secret operation, known as "Vulcan's Forge," to North Korea. Geologist and former commando Philip Mercer is drawn into the global conflict after vowing to rescue the daughter of an old friend, a member of a missing geologic survey team. Mercer must unravel the sinister secrets of Vulcan's Forge and fight to prevent the powerful resource from falling into the wrong hands and causing a global catastrophe.
