Chance and Other Gestures of the Hand of Fate

This is a collection of fantasy stories and poems that explore the enchanted realms of the imagination and the universal human need for love and acceptance. The collection is centered around the title story, which is told in two parts: "Chance" and "The Golden Face of Fate." In this tale, Chance, an orphaned bastard and Lord's Warden, must keep the vast forest of Wirral safe. He soon discovers the Denizens, strange, non-human beings whose weapons are far deadlier than the axes of those who intrude upon their domain. Other pieces in the collection include "The Boy Who Plaited Manes," "The Bard," "Bright-Eyed Black Pony," and "Primal Cry," featuring themes of grief, atonement, hope, healing, and lost faith, and characters like female wolves, dog-kings, and sun kings.
