Yvgenie

Yvgenie is the third book in C. J. Cherryh's Russian Stories trilogy, set in a world of Slavic folklore and magic in ancient Russia. The story focuses on Ilyana, the 15-year-old wizard daughter of Pyetr and Eveshka. Ilyana, who is wary of her innate magical 'gift,' rescues a half-drowned boy named Yvgenie from the river.
