Divergent

In a futuristic, dystopian Chicago, society is rigidly divided into five factions, each dedicated to cultivating a specific virtue: Abnegation (selfless), Amity (peaceful), Candor (honest), Dauntless (brave), and Erudite (intelligent). Every year, all sixteen-year-olds must undergo an aptitude test and then choose the faction to which they will devote their lives. Beatrice Prior, born into Abnegation, discovers her test results are inconclusive, marking her as Divergent—a dangerous secret in a society that fears those who don't fit into one category. She makes the surprising choice to leave her family and join the Dauntless faction, renaming herself Tris. During the grueling and highly competitive initiation process, Tris struggles to find her place, make friends, and navigate a budding romance. As she faces intense physical and psychological challenges, Tris uncovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, realizing that her Divergence might be the key to saving those she loves, or it could lead to her destruction.
