The Evacuee's Promise

September 1939. As the threat of war looms over London, Rose Mapleton and her two young children, Billy and Betty, are evacuated to the safety of the Kent countryside. They find themselves in the village of Little Gidding, taken in by the formidable but kind-hearted Miss Higgins. While Rose settles into her new life and finds work at a local nursery, she constantly frets for her husband, Bill, who is away fighting for his country. When a tragic accident occurs during a bombing raid, Rose makes a solemn promise to a dying mother to look after her young daughter. Amidst the hardships and uncertainty of the Home Front, Rose must find the courage to protect the children in her care and keep her word, discovering the strength of community and the true meaning of family along the way.
