A Walk to Remember

Set in 1958 in Beaufort, North Carolina, A Walk to Remember is the story of Landon Carter, a high school senior who is aimless and somewhat rebellious. When Landon finds himself without a date for the school dance, he reluctantly asks Jamie Sullivan, the daughter of the town's Baptist minister. Jamie is a quiet, deeply religious girl who carries her Bible everywhere and is often the target of jokes from Landon's social circle. Despite their differences, Landon and Jamie are cast together in the school's Christmas play, and Landon begins to see Jamie's inner beauty and strength. As they fall in love, Jamie reveals a devastating secret: she has terminal leukemia and is no longer responding to treatment. The novel follows Landon’s transformation from a selfish teenager into a man of faith and devotion as he seeks to fulfill Jamie's final wishes and provide her with a miracle before she passes away.
