The Tenant

When a young woman named Julie Stender is discovered brutally murdered in her Copenhagen apartment with an intricate pattern of lines carved into her face, police detectives Jeppe Kørner and Anette Werner are assigned to the case. They quickly establish a link between the victim and her landlady, Esther de Laurenti, a retired professor and budding novelist. The investigation becomes more urgent and dangerous when Julie turns up as a murder victim in Esther's still-unfinished mystery manuscript. The detectives must determine Esther's true role—is she the culprit, another victim, or is a brutal puppet-master using her work as a guide?
